     1   Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
    but to thy name ascribe the glory,
    for thy true love and for thy constancy.

Book 5

   2   Why do the nations ask,
    ‘Where then is their God?’
   3   Our God is in high note heaven;
    he does whatever pleases him.
   4   Their idols are silver and gold,
    made by the hands of men.
   5   They have mouths that cannot speak,
    and eyes that cannot see;
   6   they have ears that cannot hear,
    nostrils, and cannot smell;
   7   with their hands they cannot feel,
    with their feet they cannot walk,
    and no sound comes from their throats.
   8   Their makers grow to be like them,
    and so do all who trust in them.

   9   But Israel trusts in the Lord;
    he is their helper and their shield.
   10   The house of Aaron trusts in the Lord;
    he is their helper and their shield.
   11   Those who fear the Lord trust in the Lord;
    he is their helper and their shield.
   12   The Lord remembers us, and he will bless us;
    he will bless the house of Israel,
    he will bless the house of Aaron.
   13   The Lord will bless all who fear him,
    high and low alike.

   14   May the Lord give you increase,
    both you and your sons.
   15   You are blessed by the Lord,
    the Lord who made heaven and earth.
   16   The heavens, they are the Lord's;
    the earth he has given to all mankind.
   17   It is not the dead who praise the Lord,
    not those who go down into silence;
   18   but we, the living, note bless the Lord,
    now and for evermore.

    O praise the Lord.
