A   Vpon one daye of the Sabbath, came Mary Magdalene early (wh&ebar; it was yet darcke) vnto the sepulcre, ∧ sawe that the stone was tak&ebar; from the sepulcre. Then ranne she, ∧ came to Symon Peter, and to þe; other disciple, ^note whom Iesus loued, and sayde vnto them: They haue tak&ebar; awaye the LORDE out of the sepulcre, ∧ we can not tell where they haue layed him. Th&ebar; w&ebar;te Peter forth and the other disciple, and came to the sepulcre. They r&abar;ne both together, and that other disciple out r&abar;ne Peter, and came first to the sepulcre, and loked in, and sawe the lynnen clothes layed. But he w&ebar;te not in. Th&ebar; came Symon Peter after him, and wente in to the sepulcre, ∧ sawe the lynn&ebar; clothes lye, and the napkyn that was bounde aboute Iesus heade, not layed with the lynnen clothes, but wrapped together in

a place by it self. Th&ebar; w&ebar;te &ibar; also þt; other disciple, which came first to þe; sepulcre, ∧ he sawe ∧ beleued: for as yet they knewe not þe; scriptures, ^note þt; it behoued h&ibar; to ryse agayne fr&obar; þe; deed. Th&ebar; w&ebar;te þe; disciples againe together.

B   As for Mary, she stode before þe; sepulcre ∧ wepte without. Now as she wepte she loked in to the sepulcre, and sawe two angels in whyte garmentes syttinge, þe; one at the heade, ∧ the other at þe; fete, where they had layed the body of Iesus. And they sayde vnto her: Wom&abar;, why wepest thou? She saide vnto th&ebar;: They haue taken awaye my LORDE, ∧ I wote not where they haue layed h&ibar;. And whan she had sayde þt;, she turned her self backe, ∧ sawe Iesus stondinge, ∧ knewe not þt; it was Iesus. Iesus sayde vnto her: Woman, why wepest thou? Whom sekest thou? She thought þt; it had bene þe; gardener, ∧ sayde vnto him: Syr, yf thou hast borne him hence: then tell me where thou hast layed him? and I wil fetch h&ibar;. Iesus sayde vnto her: Mary. Then turned she her aboute, ∧ sayde vnto him: Rabboni, þt; is to saye: Master. Iesus sayde vnto her: Touche me not, for I am not yet ascended vnto my father. But go thou þi; waye vnto my ^note brethr&ebar; ∧ saye vnto th&ebar;: I asc&ebar;de vp vnto my father and yo&highr; father: ^note to my God, ∧ yo&highr; God. Mary Magdalene came, ∧ tolde þe; disciples: I haue sene the LORDE, ∧ soch thinges hath he spoken vnto me. ^note

C    ^noteThe same Sabbath at eu&ebar; wh&abar; þe; disciples were gathered together, and the dores were shut for feare of þe; Iewes, came Iesus, and stode &ibar; þe; myddes, ∧ sayde vnto th&ebar;: Peace be &wt; you. And wh&abar; he had so sayde, he shewed th&ebar; his h&abar;des ∧ his syde. ^noteTh&ebar; were þe; disciples glad, þt; they sawe þe; LORDE. Th&ebar; sayde Iesus vnto th&ebar; agayne: Peace be with you. ^note Like as my father sent me, eu&ebar; so s&ebar;de I you. And whan he had sayde þt;, he brethed vp&obar; th&ebar;, and sayde vnto th&ebar;: Receaue the holy goost. Whose synnes soeuer ye remytte, they are remytted vnto th&ebar;: and whose synnes so euer ye retayne, they are retayned.

But Thomas one of the twolue ^note which is called Didimus, was not &wt; th&ebar; wh&abar; Iesus came. Th&ebar; sayde the other disciples vnto him: We haue sene the LORDE. But he sayde vnto th&ebar;: Excepte I se in his handes the prynte of the nales, and put my h&abar;de in to his syde, I wil not beleue.

D   And after eight dayes agayne were his disciples with in, ∧ Thomas &wt; th&ebar;. Th&ebar; came Iesus (wh&abar; þe; dores were shutt) ∧ stode in the myddes, ∧ sayde: Peace be &wt; you. After þt; sayde he vnto Thomas: Reach hither þi; fynger, and se my handes, and reach hither þi; h&abar;de, ∧ put it &ibar; to my syde, ∧ be not faithlesse, but beleue. Thomas answered, ∧ sayde vnto him: My LORDE, and my God. Iesus sayde vnto him: Thomas, because thou hast sene me, thou hast beleued. Blessed are they, that se not, and yet beleue.

Many other tok&ebar;s dyd Iesus before his disciples, which are not wrytt&ebar; in this boke. But these are wrytt&ebar;, þt; ye shulde beleue, þt; Iesus is Christ the sonne of God, ∧ that ye thorow beleue might haue life in his name.
