walkynge in fleisch, `fi&yogh;ten not, `or holden

4 Forwhi
the armers of oure kny&yogh;thod ben not
fleischly, but my&yogh;ty to God to the destruccioun
of wardingis, `or strengthis;
we distroyinge counceils,
5 and al hi&yogh;nesse
reysinge him a&yogh;ens the science of
God, and dryuynge into caytifte al vndirstondinge
into the seruyse of Crist;
6 also hauynge in redynesse for to venge

if I schal glorie ony thing more of oure
power, the which the Lord &yogh;af to vs into
edifyinge, and not into &yogh;oure distruccioun,
I schal not schame.
9 Forsothe that I be
not gessid as for to feere &yogh;ou by epistlis,
forwhi thei seyn,
10 The epistlis ben heuye,
`or greuouse, and strong, but the presence
of body sijk, and the word contemptible,
`or worthi for to be dispysid.
11 He that
is such `maner man, thenke this, for what
maner men we `ben absent by epistlis,
suche maner men vs present in dede.
12 Sothli we doren not putte vs among, `or
comparisowne vs to summe, that comenden
hem silf; but we metinge, `or mesuringe,
`vs in `vs silf, and comparisownynge
vs silf to vs,
13 sothli we schulden not
glorie `into ful moche, but vp the mesure
of reule, bi which God mesuride to vs, the

14 Forsoth
