A    ^noteAt that tyme Herode þe; Tetrarcha herde of þe; fame of Iesu, ∧ sayde vnto his serua&ubar;tes: This is Ih&obar; þe; baptist. He is rysen agayne fr&obar; the deed, therfore are his dedes so mightie. ^noteFor Herode had tak&ebar; Ih&obar; bounde h&ibar;, ∧ put him in preson for Herodias sake his brothers Philips wife. For Ihon sayde vnto him: ^note It is not laufull for þe; to

haue her. And fayne wolde he haue put him to death, but he feared the people, ^note because they helde him for a Prophet.

^noteBut whan Herode helde his byrth daye, ^note the doughter of Herodias daunsed before th&ebar;, and that pleased Herode well, wherfore he promysed her with an ooth, þt; he wolde geue her, what soeuer she wolde axe. And she (beynge instructe of hir mother afore) sayde: geue me Ihon baptistes heade in a platter. And the kynge was sory. Neuertheles for þe; ooth sake, ∧ th&ebar; þt; sat with him at þe; table, he c&obar;maunded it to be geuen her, and sent, ∧ beheeded Ihon in the preson. B   And his heed was brought in a platter, and geuen to the damsell, ∧ she brought it vnto her mother. Then came his disciples, and toke his body, and buried it, and wente and tolde Iesus.

^noteWhan Iesus hetde þt;, he departed thence by shippe in to a desert place alone. And wh&abar; the people herde therof, they folowed him on fote out of þe; cities. And Iesus w&ebar;te forth, and sawe moch people, and had pytie vpon them, and healed their sicke. But at euen his disciples came vnto him, ∧ saide: This is a deserte place, and þe; night falleth on: let þe; people departe from the, that they maye go in to the townes, and bye them vytayles. But Iesus sayde vnto them: They nede not go awaye, geue ye th&ebar; to eate. Th&ebar; saide they vnto him: We haue here but fyue loaues and two fyshes. C   And he sayde: bringe th&ebar; hither. And he c&obar;maunded þe; people to syt downe vpon the grasse, and toke þe; fyue loaues and two fi&esset;hes, and loked vp towarde heauen, and gaue thankes, and brake and gaue the loaues vnto the disciples, and the disciples gaue them to the people. And they all ate, and were suffised. And they gathered vp of the broken meate that remayned ouer, twolue ba&esset;kettes full. And they þt; ate, were aboute a fyue thousande men, besyde wemen and children.

^noteAnd straight waye Iesus made his disciples to entre in to a shippe, ∧ to go ouer before h&ibar;, tyll he had sent þe; people awaye. And whan he had sent the people awaye, ^note he w&ebar;te vp in to a mountayne alone, to make his prayer. And at euen he was there him self alone. And þe; shippe was allready in þe; myddest of the see, ∧ was tost &wt; wawes, for the winde was c&obar;trary. But in þe; fourth watch of þe; night Iesus came vnto th&ebar;, walkinge vpon the see. And whan his disciples sawe him goinge vpon the see, they were afrayed, sayenge: It is some sprete, and cried out for feare. But straight waye Iesus spake vnto them, and sayde: Be of good cheare, it is I, be not afrayed.

D   Peter answered him, ∧ saide: LORDE, yf it be thou, byd me come vnto the vpon þe; water. And he sayde: come on þi; waye. And Peter stepte out of the shippe, ∧ w&ebar;te vpon the water, to come vnto Iesus. But whan he sawe a mightie wynde, he was afrayed, ∧ beg&abar;ne to synke, ∧ cried, sayenge: LORDE, helpe me. And &ibar;mediatly Iesus stretched forth his hande, ∧ caught him, ∧ sayde vnto him: O thou of litle faith, wherfore doutest thou? ^noteAnd they wente in to the shippe, ∧ the wynde ceased. Then they that were in þe; shippe, came ∧ fell downe before him, ∧ sayde: Of a trueth thou art þe; sonne of God. And they shipped ouer, ∧ came in to the l&obar;de of Genazereth. And wh&abar; þe; m&ebar; of þt; place had knowlege of h&ibar;, they sent out in to all that co&ubar;tre rounde aboute, ∧ brought vnto him all that were sicke, ∧ besought him, that they might but touch the hemme of his vesture onely: ∧ as many as touched it, were made whole.
