1 And it is maad in the seuenthe &yogh;eer,
in the fifthe moneth, in the tenthe dai of
the moneth, men of the eldris of Israel
camen for to axe the Lord, and saten before
me.
2 And the word of the Lord is
maad to me,
3 seiynge, Sone of man, speke
thou to the eldre men of Israel; and thou
shalt seie to hem, Thes thingis seith the

Lord God, Whether &yogh;e camen for to axe
me? Y lyue, for Y shal not answere to
&yogh;ou, seith the Lord God. Sone of man
if thou demest hem,
4 if thou demist, shew
thou to hem the abomynaciouns of her
fadris.
5 And thou shalt seie to hem,
Thes thingis seith the Lord, In the dai
in which Y cheese Israel, and reiside myn
hoond for the kynrede, or generaciouns,
of Jacobs hows, and aperide to hem in
the loond of Egipt, and reiside myn
hoond for hem, seiynge, Y the Lord &yogh;oure
God,
6 in that dai Y reiside myn hoond for
hem, that Y shulde lede hem out of the
loond of Egipt, in to the loond which
Y hadde purueiede to hem, flowynge with
mylk and hony, whiche is noble amonge
alle loondis.
7 And Y seide to hem, Eche
man caste awey the offensiouns of his
eyen, and in the ydols of Egipt nyl &yogh;e
be defoulid; I the Lord &yogh;our God.
8 And
thei wraththiden me, and thei wolden not
here me; eche man castide not awey the
abomynaciouns of his eyen, nether forsoke
the ydols of Egipt. And Y seide,
that Y shulde sheede out myn indignacioun
vpon hem, and shulde fulfille my
wraththe in hem, in the mydil of the
loond of Egipt.
9 And Y dide for my
name, that it were not defoulid before
heithen men, in whos mydil thei weren,
and among whom I aperide to hem, that
I shulde lede out hem fro the lond of
Egipt.
10 Therfor Y castide out hem fro
the lond of Egipt, and Y ledde out in to
desert,
11 and &yogh;af to hem myn heestis, and
Y shewide to hem my domys, whiche a
man shulde doo, and lyue in hem.
12 More
ouere and I &yogh;aue to hem my sabotis, that
it were a signe bitwixe me and hem,
and thei shulden wite, for I the Lord
halewynge hem.
13 And the hous of Israel
wraththide me in deseert; in my preceptis
thei walkiden not, and thei castiden
awey my domys, whom a man doynge

shal lyue in hem; and thei defouliden
greetli my sabotis. Therfor I seide,
that I shulde shede out my woodnes vpon
hem in deseert, and destruye hem;
and Y dide for my name,
14 lest I were
defoulid before heithen men, of whom Y
castide hem out in the si&yogh;te of hem.
15 Therfor Y reiside myn hoond vpon hem
in deseert, that Y ledde hem not in to
the loond which Y &yogh;aue to hem, flowynge
with mylk and hony, the best of alle
loondis.
16 For thei castiden awei my
domys, and thei walkiden not in myn
heestis, and thei defouleden my sabotis;
forsothe the herte of hem wente after
idolis.
17 And myn eye sparide vpon hem,
that I shulde not slee hem, nether Y
waastide hem in deseert.
18 Forsothe Y
seide to the sones of hem in wildirnes,
In the preceptis of &yogh;oure fadris nyle &yogh;e
goo, nether kepe &yogh;e the domys of hem,
nether be &yogh;e defoulid in the idolis of hem.
19 Y the Lord &yogh;our God, in my preceptis
walke &yogh;e, and kepe &yogh;e my domys, and
doo &yogh;e hem.
20 And halewe &yogh;e my sabothis,
that it be a tokne betwixe me and &yogh;ou,
and it be wist, for Y the Lord &yogh;our God.
21 And the sones of Israel wraththiden me,
and thei walkiden not in my preceptis,
and thei kepten not my domys, that thei
shulden do hem, whiche whanne a man
shal doo, he shal lyue in hem, and thei
defouliden my sabotis. And I thretenede,
that I shulde sheede out my woodnes vpon
hem, and shulde fulfille my wraththe
in hem in deseert.
22 Y turnede awei myn
hoond, and Y dide this thing for my
name, that it were not defoulid before
heithen men, of whom I castide out hem
in the eyen of hem.
23 Eftsoone Y reyside
myn hoond in to hem in wildirnes, that
Y shulde scatere hem in to naciouns, and
shulde wyndow hem in to loondis;
24 for
that that thei diden not my domys, and
repreueden my preceptis, and defouleden
-- --
my sabotis, and the eyen of hem weren
after the idolis of her fadris.
25 Therfor
and Y &yogh;aue to hem preceptis not goode,
and domys in whiche thei shulen not
lyue.
26 And Y defoulede hem in her
&yogh;iftis, whanne thei offriden al thing that
opneth the wombe for her giltis; and thei
shulden wite, for Y the Lord.
27 Wherfor,
sone of man, spek thou to the hous of
Israel, and thou shalt seie to hem, Thes
thingis seith the Lord God, &YOGH;it and in
thes thingis &yogh;oure faders blasfemeden me,
whanne thei despisynge hadden forsake
me,
28 and Y hadde ledde hem in to the
loond vpon which Y reyside myn hoond,
that Y shulde &yogh;yue it to hem, thei sawen
eche hee&yogh; litil hil, or reisynge of greet
hil, and eche tree ful of wode, and thei
offreden there her slayn sacrifices for victorie,
and &yogh;auen there her offryngis in to
wraththinge; and thei puttiden there the
odour of her swetnes, and sacrefieden her
libaciouns, that ben of fletynge thingis,
as wiyn, oyle, and siche.
29 And Y seide
to hem, What is the hei&yogh; thing, to whom
&yogh;e entren in? And the name of it is
clepid Hee&yogh; Thing til in to this dai.
30 Therfor
sey thou to the hous of Israel, Thes
thingis seith the Lord God, Certis in the
weie of &yogh;oure fadris &yogh;e ben polut, or defoulid,
and after her offensiouns &yogh;e don
fornycacioun,
31 and in offrynge of &yogh;our
&yogh;iftis, whanne &yogh;e leden ouer &yogh;oure sones
bi fier, &yogh;e ben defoulid in alle &yogh;our ydols
til to dai, and Y shal answere to &yogh;ou, the
hous of Israel? Y lyue, seith the Lord
God, for I shal not answere to &yogh;ou;
32 nether
the thenkynge of &yogh;our soule, or
vnderstondynge, shal be maad, of men
seiynge, We shulen be as heithen men,
as the kynredis of erthe, that we worshipe
trees and stoonus.
33 Y lyue, seith
the Lord God, for in strong hoond, and
in arm strau&yogh;t out, and in woodnes shed
out, Y shal regne vpon &yogh;ou.
34 And I shal

lede out &yogh;ou of puplis, and Y shal gadre
&yogh;ou of loondis, in whiche &yogh;e ben scaterid;
in strong hoond and arm strau&yogh;t forth,
and in woodnes shed out I shal regne
vpon &yogh;ou.
35 And Y shal lede &yogh;ou in to
deseert of puplis, and I shal be demed
there with &yogh;ou face to face.
36 As bi doom
Y stroof a&yogh;ens &yogh;our fadris in deseert of
the loond of Egipt, so Y shal deme &yogh;ou,
seith the Lord;
37 and I shal make you
suget to my ceptre, and Y shal lede in
&yogh;ou in boondis of pees.
38 And Y shal cheese
of &yogh;ou trespasseris, and vnpitouse men; I
shal lede out hem fro the loond of her
cumlyngnes, and thei shulen not entre
in to the loond of Israel; and &yogh;e shulen
wite, for Y the Lord.
39 And &yogh;e, the hous
of Israel, thes thingis seith the Lord God,
&YOGH;e eche walke after &yogh;our idolis, and serue
&yogh;e to hem. That and if in this thing &yogh;e
shulen not here me, and &yogh;e shulen defoule
ouer myn hooli name in &yogh;our &yogh;iftis,
and in &yogh;our ydolis,
40 in myn hooli hil, in
the hei&yogh; hil of Israel, seith the Lord God,
there al the hous of Israel shal serue to
me; forsothe eche in the loond, in which
thei shulen plese to me; and there I shal
seche &yogh;our prymysies, or first fruytis,
and the bigynnynge of &yogh;our tithis in alle
&yogh;our halewyngis.
41 In to odour of swetnes
Y shal resseyue &yogh;ou, whanne Y shal
lede &yogh;ou out of puplis, and shal gedre
&yogh;ou of loondis, in to whiche &yogh;e ben scatered;
and I shal be halewid in &yogh;ou in
eyen, or si&yogh;t, of naciouns.
42 And &yogh;e shulen
wite, for I the Lord, whanne I shal lede
&yogh;ou in to the loond of Israel, in to the
loond for which Y reyside myn hoond,
that I shulde &yogh;yue it to &yogh;our fadris.
43 And
there &yogh;e shulen bithenke in hem of &yogh;our
weies, and of alle &yogh;our grete trespassis,
bi whiche &yogh;e ben defoulid in hem; and
&yogh;e shulen displese to &yogh;ou in &yogh;our si&yogh;t, in
alle &yogh;our malices whiche &yogh;e diden.
44 And
&yogh;e shulen wite, for Y the Lord, whanne I

shal wel doo to &yogh;ou for my name; not
after &yogh;our yuel weies, nether after &yogh;our
werst huge trespassis, &yogh;e hous of Israel,
seith the Lord God.
45 And the word of
the Lord is maad to me,
46 seiynge, Sone
of man, put thou thi face a&yogh;ens the weie
of the south, and drop to the south wynd,
and prophecy thou to the wodi place, or
wildernes, of the myddai, or south, feeld.
47 And thou shalt seie to the myddai, or
south, wodi place, Here thou the word of
the Lord. Thes thingis seith the Lord,
Loo! I shal kyndle in thee fier, and I
shal togider brenne in thee eche grene
tree, and eche drye tree; the flaume of
brennynge shal not be quenchid, and eche
face in it shal be brent togidre, fro the
south vnto the north.
48 And eche flesh
shal see, for I the Lord brende it, and it
shal not be quenchid.
49 And Y seide, A!
A! A! Lord God, thei seyn of me,
