CAP. III.
1 And Salomon beganne to bilden up
an hous of the Lord in Jerusalem, in the
hill of Moria, the whiche was schewed to
Dauid, his fader, in the place that Dauid
hadde maad redy in the corne flor of
Ornam Jebusei.
2 He beganne forsothe
to bilden up the secounde moneth, in the
ferth &yogh;eer of his regne.
3 And thes ben
the foundementis, `the whiche Salomon
leide, that he bilde up the hous of God;
of lengthe cubitis in the first mesure
sexty, of brede cubitis twenty.
4 The &yogh;ate
hous forsothe beforne the frount, the
whiche was strau&yogh;t out in to leyngthe
aftir mesure of brede of the hous, of cubitis
twenty, bot the hei&yogh;te was of an
hundrith and twenty cubitis; and he
gildide it with in forth with most cleen

5 Also the more hous he couerede
with firre tablis, and he fitchide platis of
bri&yogh;t gold thoru&yogh; out; and he graued in
it hondis, and as cheynes catchynge hem
silf to gydre.
6 And he couerde the pawment
of the temple with most preciouse
marble, in myche feyrnesse.
7 Forsothe the
gold was most fyne, of whos platis he
couerde the hous, and his bemys, and
postis, and wallis, and dores; and he
graued cherubyn in the wallis.
8 Also he
maad an hous to the holies of halowes,
in leyngthe aftir the brede of the hous,
of cubitis twenty, and the breed lijc
maner of cubitis twenty; and with golden
platis couerde it, as with sixe hundrith
talentis.
9 Bot and golden naylis he maad,
so that eche naylis peyseden fyfty ounces;
also the soupynge place he couerde with
gold.
10 And he maad in the hous of holies
of halowis two cherubyn in ymage werke,
and couerde hem with gold.
11 The weengis
of cherubyn in twenty cubitis weren
strau&yogh;t out, so that oo wenge hadde cubitis
fyue, and schulde touchen the wall
of the hous; and the tother wenge hauynge
fyue cubitis touche the wenge of
the tother cherub.
12 Lijc maner of the
tother cherub the wenge hadde fyue cubitis,
and touchid the wall, and his othere
weeng of fyue cubitis touched the weeng
of the tother cherub.
13 Thanne the weengis
of either cherub weren sprad and strau&yogh;t
out bi cubitis twenty; thei forsothe
stoden ri&yogh;t up the feet, and the faces of
hem weren turned to the vttirmore hous.
14 And he maad a veyl of jacinct, and
purpur, and cocko, and bijs; and thei
weueden to it cherubyn.
15 Before the &yogh;atis
also of the temple two pylers, `the whiche
thritty and fyue cubitis hadden of hei&yogh;t;
forsothe the heuedis of hem of fyue cubitis.
16 Also and as litil cheynes in Goddis

answerynge place, and he putte hem
vpon the heuedes of the pilers; also an
hundrith powngarnettis, the whiche he
putte among to the litil cheynes.
17 And
thilk pilers he putte in the vestiarye of
the temple, oon fro the ri&yogh;t, an other fro
the left; it that was fro the ri&yogh;t he clepide
Jachym, and that to the lift he
clepid Booz.
