1 Josaphath forsothe, his sone, regnede
for hym; and he wexe stronge a&yogh;einus
Yrael.
2 And he sette noumbris of kny&yogh;tis
in alle the cytees of Juda, that weren
enuyrounde with wallis, and he disposede
strengthes in the lond of Juda, and in
the cytees of Effraym, that Aza, his fadir,
hadde taken.
3 And the Lord was with
Josaphath, the whiche wente in the weies
of Dauith, his fadir, in the first; he hoopide
not in Baalym,
4 bot in the Lord God
of Dauid, his fadir, and he wente in the
heestis of hym, and not aftir the synnes
of Yrael.
5 And the Lord confermede the
rewme in his hond, and al Juda &yogh;aue
&yogh;iftis to Josaphath, and with oute noumber
rychessis ben maad to hym, and
myche glorie.
6 And whanne his herte
hadde taken hardynesse for the weies of
the Lord, also hee&yogh; thingis and mawmete
wodus he toke awei fro Juda.
7 The thrid
forsothe &yogh;eer of his regne he sente of
his princis Banayl, and Abdyam, and
Zachyam, and Nathanael, and Mychiam,
that thei schulden techen in the cytees
of Juda;
8 and with hem Leuytis, Semeyam,
and Nathanyam, and Zabadyam,
Azahil also, and Semyramoth, and Jonathan,

and Adonyam, and Tobiam, and
Abadonyam, Leuytis; and with hem
Elizama and Joram, prestis;
9 and they
tau&yogh;ten the puple in Juda, hauynge the
boke of the lawe of the Lord; and thei
enuyrouneden alle the cytees of Juda,
and tau&yogh;ten al the puple.
10 And so the
ferd of the Lord is maad vpon alle
rewmes of londis, that weren by enuyroun
of Juda; and thei weren not hardy
to fi&yogh;ten a&yogh;ein Josaphath.
11 Bot and the
Philisteis brou&yogh;ten &yogh;iftis to Josaphath,
and tribute of syluer; also Arabes
brou&yogh;ten beestis, of wethers seuen thousand
and seuen hundrith, and geet as
feele.
12 Than Josaphath wexe, and is
magnyfied vnto in hei&yogh;te, and bilde up
in Juda houses at licnesse of touris, and
strengthed cytees;
13 and many werkis
made redy in the cytees of Juda. And
men fi&yogh;ters and strong weren in Jerusalem;
of whome this is the noumbre,
14 by
houses and meynes of echone. In Juda
prince of the hoost, duyk Eduas, and
with hym most stronge men thre hundrith
thousand.
15 After this Johannan
prynce, and with hym two hundrith and
ei&yogh;tye thousand.
16 Aftir hym also Amazias,
the sone of Zechri, sacrid to the
Lord, and with hym two hundrith thousand
of stronge men.
17 This folowede a
stronge man to batails, Eliada, and with
hym of holdynge bowe and terget two
hundrith thousand.
18 Aftir hym also Josabath,
and with hym an hundrith and
ei&yogh;tye thousand of al redy kny&yogh;tis.
19 Alle
thes weren at the hond of the kyng,
outake othere, `the whiche he hadde
sette forth in wallid citees and in al
Juda.
