And enstoore thei the coueryngis of the hous, &yogh;if eny thinge thei seen necessarye in the restorynge. 6   Thanne vnto the three and twentithe &yogh;eer of kyng Joas, the prestis restooreden not the coueryngis of the temple. 7   And kyng Joas clepide Joiada, the bischop, and the prestis, seyinge to hem, Why the coueryngis &yogh;e restoren not of the temple? Wille &yogh;e than not no more taken the monee aftir &yogh;oure ordre, bot to the restooringe of the temple &yogh;eldith it. 8   And the prestis ben forfendid to eny more takyn monee of the puple, and to restoren the coueryngis of the hous. 9   And Joiada, the bischop, toke oon tresoringe place, and he opnede an hoole ther aboue, and putte it bisyde the auter, at the ri&yogh;t syde of men commynge in to the house of the Lord; and the prestis, that

offred, and al the syluer and gold, that my&yogh;t be founden in the tresouries of the temple of the Lord, and in paleys of the kyng. And he sente to Azael, the kyng of Cyrye, and wente aweye fro Jerusalem. 19   The remnaunt forsothe of the wordis of Joas, and alle thingis that he dyde, whether thes ben not writen in the book of the wordis of the days of the kyngis of Juda? 20   Forsothe his seruauntis rysen, and coniureden bytwene hemseluen; and thei smyten Joas in the hous of Mello, in the goynge doun of Sela. 21   Josafath forsothe, the sone of Semath, and Joiadath, the sone of Somer, his seruauntis, smyten hym, and he is deed; and thei birieden hym with his faders in the cytee of Dauith; and Amazias, his sone, regnede for hym.
