In ryches maye we not put any confydence. The
vengeaunce of God ought to be feared and to repentaunce
maye we not be slowe.
A Trust not vnto thy ryches, and
saye not: tushe, I haue ynough
for my lyfe. (For it shall not
helpe in the time of vengeaunce
and temptation) Folow not the
lust of thyne owne herte in thy strength, and
saye not: tush, howe haue I had strength, or
who wyll brynge me vnder because of my
workes? for doubtles God shall auenge it.
And saye not: I haue commytted mo sinnes
but what euel hath happened me? For the
Allmyghtye is a pacyent rewarder. Because
thy sinne is forgeuen the, be not therfore without
feare, nether heape one synne vpon another.
And say not: tush, the mercy of the lord
is greate, he shall forgeue me my synnes, be
they neuer so manie. For like as he is mercyfull,
so goeth wrath from hym also, and his
indignacion commeth downe vpon sinners

B Make no taryinge to turne vnto the Lord
∧ put not of from daye to daye: for sodenlye
shal his wrath come, ∧ in the tyme of vengeaunce
he shall destroye the. Truste not in
wicked ryches for they shall not helpe in the
daye of punishment and wrath, Be not caryed
about to euery wynde, and goo not into
euery waye: for so doth the synner that hath
a dauble tonge. Stande faste in the waye of
the Lorde, be stedfaste in thy vnderstandyng
abyde by the worde, and folowe the worde
of peace, and ryghtuousnes. Be gentle to
heare the worde of God, that thou mayest
vnderstande it, and make a true answer with
wysdome. Be swyft to heare, but slowe and
pacient in geuynge answere. If thou hast vnderstandynge,
shappe thy neyghboure an
answere: If no laye thyne hande vpon thye
mouth: lest thou be trapped in an vndyscrete
worde, and so confounded. Honour and worshype
is a mans wyse talkynge, but the tong
of the vndiscrete is his owne destruccy&obar;. Be
not a preuy accuser as longe as thou lyueste
and vse no sclaunder wyth thy tounge. For
shame and sorow goth ouer the thefe, and an
euell name ouer him that is double tonged:
but he that is a preuye accuser of other men,
shalbe hated enuyed ∧ confounded. Se that
thou iustyfye the smalle and greate alyke.
