The .vi. Chapter The callynge of Kynges, Prynces, and Iudges: whych are also exhorted to searche wysdome.

A   Wisdome is better then str&ebar;gth, and a man of vnderstandyng is more worth then one that is stronge. Heare therefore (O ye Kynges) and vnderstande?
O lerne ye that be iudges of the endes of the earth. Geue eare ye that rule the multitudes, and delite in much people, For the power is geuen you of the Lord, ∧ the strength from the Hyest: whych shal trye youre workes and search out your ymaginacions: How that ye beinge offycers of hys Kyngedome, haue not executed true iudgement, haue not kepte the lawe of rightuousnes, nor walked after hys wyll. B   Horribly and that right sone shal he appeare vnto you: for an hard iudgement shall they haue that beare rule. Mercy is graunted vnto the symple, but they that be in authoritie shall be sore punyshed. For God whych is Lorde ouer all, shal except no m&abar;s personne, neither shall he stande in awe of anye mannes greatnesse: for he hath made the small and great, and careth for al a lyke. But the myghtye shall haue the sorer punishmente,

Vnto you therfore (O ye Kynges) do I speake, that ye maye lerne wysdome and not go amysse: for they þt; kepe righteousnes shal be righteously iudged: ∧ thei þt; are learned in righteous thinges, shal find to make answer. Wherefore set youre luste vpon my wordes, and loue them so shall ye come by nurtoure. Wysdome is a noble thynge, and neuer fadeth awaye: yee she is easely sene of th&ebar; that loue her, ∧ found of such as seke her. C   She preu&ebar;teth them that desyre her, that she maie fyrst shewe her selfe vnto th&ebar;. Who so awaketh vnto her by tymes, shall haue no great trauayle, for he shall fynde her sitting readye at his dores. To thyncke vpon her is perfecte vnderstandyng: ∧ who so watcheth for her, shalbe safe, and that soone. For she goeth aboute, sekynge suche as are mete for her, sheweth her self cherefully vnto them in their goinges, ∧ meteth th&ebar; with al diligence For the vnfayned desyre of refourmacyon is her begynnynge: to care for nurtour is loue, ∧ loue is the kepynge of her lawes. Now the kepyng of the lawes, is perfeccyon ∧ an vncorrupte lyfe, and an vncorrupte life maketh a man familiar wyth God. And so the desire

of wysdome ledeth to the kyngdome euerlastynge. D   If youre delyte be then in royall seates ∧ cepters (O ye kinges of the people) set youre luste vpon wysdome, that ye maye raigne for euer more. O loue the light of wisdome, all ye that be rulers of the people. As for wisd&obar; what she is, and howe she came vp I wyll tell you, and wyll not hyde the mysteries of God from you: but wyl seke her out fr&obar; the begynnynge of the natiuitie, ∧ bryng the knowledge of her into lyght, and wil not kepe back the trueth: Neyther wyl I haue to do wyth consumynge enuye, for such a man shal not be partaker of wysd&obar;. But the multitude of the wyse is the welfare of þe; world, and a wyse kyng is the vpholding of the people, O receyue nourtoure then thorowe my wordes, and it shall do you good.
