¶ The .v. Chapter. ¶ The genealogye of Adam vnto Noe.

A   This is the boke of the generaci&obar; of man. In the daye when God created man ∧ made hym after the similitude of God. Male ∧ female made he them, ∧ called their names man, in the day when they were created. And when Adam was an hundred ∧ thyrty yere olde, he begat a sonne after hys sycknesse and similitude: ∧ called his name note Seth. And the dayes of Ad&abar; after he begat Seth, were eyght hundred yere, and begat sonnes ∧ daughters. And al the dayes of Ad&abar; which he lyued, were .ix. hundred ∧ xxx. yere, and then he dyed.

And Seth lyued an hundred ∧ .v. yeres, ∧ begat Enos. And after he had begat Enos he liued .viij. hundred ∧ vij. yere, ∧ begat sonnes ∧ daughters. And all þe; dayes of Seth were ix. hundred ∧ xij. yere, and dyed. And Enos lyued lxxx. yere, ∧ begat Kenan. And Enos after he begat Kenan, liued viij. hundred ∧ xv. yere, and begat sonnes ∧ daughters: ∧ al the dayes of Enos were ix. hundred ∧ v. yere, ∧ than he dyed. And Mahalaliel after he had begat Iared lyued viij. hundred ∧ .xxx yeres, ∧ begat sonnes and daughters: and al the dayes of Mahalaliel were .viij. hundred nynetye and .v. yere, and than he dyed.

And Mathusala lyued an hundred and lxxxvij. yere ∧ begat Lamech: ∧ Mathusala after he had begat Lamech, lyued .vij. hundred ∧ .lxxxij. yere, ∧ begat sonnes and daughters. And all the dayes of Mathusala were ix. hundred .lxix. yere, and than he dyed.

And Lamech lyued an h&ubar;dred .lxxxij. yere ∧ begat a sonne, ∧ called hym Noe, sayinge: Thys same shal comforte vs: as concerning our worke ∧ sorowe of oure handes whyche we haue about the erth that the Lorde hath curssed: and Lamech liued after he had begat Noe .v. hundred, nynetye ∧ .v. yere, and begat sonnes ∧ daughters. And al the dayes of Lamech were .vij. hundred .lxxvij. yere, ∧ th&abar; he dyed. And when Noe was fyue h&ubar;dred yere old, he begat Sem, Ham, ∧ Iapheth.
