1   These are the names of the kings of the land whom the Israelites slew, and whose territory they occupied beyond the Jordan towards the sunrise from the gorge of the Arnon as far as Mount Hermon and all the Arabah on the east. 2   Sihon the Amorite king who lived in Heshbon: his rule extended from Aroer, which is on the edge of the gorge of the Arnon, along the middle of the gorge and over half Gilead as far as the gorge of the Jabbok, the Ammonite frontier; 3   along the Arabah as far as the eastern side of the Sea of Kinnereth and as far as the eastern side of the Sea of the Arabah, the Dead Sea, by the road to Beth-jeshimoth and from Teman under the watershed of Pisgah. 4   Og note king of Bashan, one of the survivors of the Rephaim, who lived in Ashtaroth and Edrei:

Joshua gave their land to the Israelite tribes to be their possession according to their allotted shares, 8   in the hill-country, the Shephelah, the Arabah, the watersheds, the wilderness, and the Negeb; lands of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. 9   The king of Jericho; 10   the king of Ai which is beside Bethel; the king of Jerusalem; the king of Hebron; 11    12   the king of Jarmuth; the king of Lachish; the king of Eglon; 13   the king of Gezer; the king of Debir; the king of Geder; the king of Hormah; 14    15   the king of Arad; the king of Libnah; the king of Adullam; 16    17   the king of Makkedah; the king of Bethel; the king of Tappuah; 18   the king of Hepher; the king of Aphek; the king of Aphek note-in-Sharon; the king of Madon; 19    20   the king of Hazor; the king of Shimronmeron; note king of Akshaph; 21   the king of Taanach; the king of Megiddo; 22   the king of Kedesh; the king of Jokneam-in-Carmel; the king of Dor in the district of Dor; 23   the king of Gaiam-in-Galilee; note the king of Tirzah: 24   thirty-one kings in all, one of each town.
