   1    2   The Lord loves the gates of Zion
    more than all the dwellings of Jacob;
    her ^note foundations are laid upon holy hills,
   4    5   and he has made her his home. ^note
I will count Egypt ^note and Babylon among my friends;
Philistine, Tyrian and Nubian shall be ^note there;
  and Zion shall be called a mother ^note
  in whom men of every race are born.
   6   The Lord shall write against each in the roll of nations:
  ‘This one was born in her.’
7   Singers and dancers alike all chant ^note your praises,
