LETTER XXXII. HARRINGTON to WORTHY. BOSTON.

[figure description] Page 023.[end figure description]

What ails my heart? I feel
a void here—and yet I verge towards my
happine&longs;s—for a few days makes Harriot
mine—Myra &longs;ays I had better not marry her.
What could prompt her to u&longs;e &longs;uch an expression?
Better not marry her. She has repeated
it &longs;everal times—and with too much
eagerne&longs;s—I give no heed to it—and yet
why &longs;hould it affect me in this manner?
Is it an artifice to fathom the depth of my
love? Such &longs;chemes are my utter aver&longs;ion—
it di&longs;turbs me—I hate &longs;uch artifice—You
cannot imagine how it touches my heart.

Adieu!
