Introductory matter

ADVERTISEMENT. The admirers of Shakspeare having long regretted, that most of his Lyrical Compositions, have never been sung in a Theatre, the Comedy of Errors, (one of the shortest and most lively of his Comedies) has been selected as the best vehicle for their introduction.—A few additional scenes and passages were absolutely necessary for this purpose; and however deficient these may be found, it is hoped they will be readily pardoned, as having served to bring on the stage, more of the “native wood notes wild,” of our Immortal Bard! Dec. 8th, 1819.
