PSALME I. Whether it was Esdras, or any other that gathered the Psalmes into a booke, it seemeth he did set this Psalme first in maner of a preface, to exhort all godly men to studie, and meditate the heauenly wisedome. For the effect here of is, 1 That they be blessed, which giue themselues wholly all their life to the holy Scriptures. 4 And that the wicked contemners of God, though they seeme for a while happie, yet at length shall come to miserable destruction.

Blessed is the man that doeth not walke in the note counsell of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in þe; seate of the scornefull:

But his delite is in the note Lawe of the Lord, and in his note Lawe doeth he meditate day and night.

For he shall be like a note tree planted by the riuers of waters, that will bring foorth her fruite in due season: whose leafe shall not fade: so note whatsoeuer he shall doe, shall prosper.

noteThe wicked are not so, but as the chaffe, which the winde driueth away.

Therefore the wicked shall not stande in the note iudgement, nor sinners in the assemblie of the righteous.

For the Lorde note knoweth the way of the righteous, & the way of the wicked shal perish.
