Note return to page 1 AS YOU LIKE IT had not been revived since Shakespeare's own time when it appeared in this drastically rewritten form for six performances at Drury Lane in 1723. Johnson's adaptation, which betrothes Celia to Jaques and kills Oliver, is also notable for interpolating short passages from RICHARD II, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, as well as the whole Pyramus and Thisbe mock-play from A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM.
