Note return to page 1 Although many of its speeches and songs were borrowed to adorn stage versions of other plays, LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST itself was not revived until 1839, and this 1762 adaptation of the play (clearly intended for performance, but never in the event acted) allows us to see the sort of heavy rewriting which it would have had to undergo had it reappeared in the preceding century.
