MISS RAVENEL'S CONVERSION FROM SECESSION TO LOYALTY.
12mo, Cloth, $1 50.

“A most brilliant novel. * * * The author's keen
wit, fine humor, concise and telling style, and, above
all, sincerity; his evident habit of seeing clearly and
narrating faithfully facts that have fallen under his
personal observation, would have insured an entertaining
fiction, even with materials of far less intrinsic
interest than those contained in `Miss Ravenel's
Conversion.”'

EUROPEAN ACQUAINTANCE: being Sketches of People in Europe.
12mo, Cloth, $1 50.

One of the most readable, pleasant volumes upon
Europe, or rather upon persons there encountered by
the author, published for some time. The charm of
Mr. De Forest's book is his utter want of pedantry.
He passes over what is called classic ground, and
avoids referring to what other writers have said. He
conveys his own impressions in a very agreeable manner.

Boston Transcript.
