Note return to page 1 Durfey's sometimes violent alteration of CYMBELINE (influenced by the success of Nahum Tate's KING LEAR, for example, it has Cloten blind Pisanio) was first acted at Drury Lane in 1682, and last performed at Covent Garden in 1738. It changes the names of many characters, and in its original published form makes no acknowledgement of its Shakespearean source.
