The epistle of Jude.
CAP. I.
1 Judas, the seruaunt of Jhesu Crist,
brother forsothe of Jamys, to thes loued,
that ben in God the fadir, and `of Jhesu
Crist kept and clepid,
2 mercy `to &yogh;ou, and
pees, and charite be fulfillid.
3 Moost dere,
I makinge al bisynesse `of writinge to &yogh;ou
of &yogh;oure comoun helthe, hadde neede for
to wrijte to &yogh;ou, preyinge for to stryue
vpon the feith oonys bitakun of seyntis.
4 Sotheli summen priuyli entriden, that
sumtyme weren bifore write in to this

Lord Jhesu Crist.
5 Forsothe I wole `to

6 Sotheli aungels
that kepten not his princehed, but forsoken

7 As Sodom, and

manere doynge fornycacioun, and goynge

Mychael, `the archaungel, disputinge

was not hardy for to &yogh;iue doom of blasfemye,
but seide, The Lord comaunde to
thee.
10 Forsothe thes blasfemen, what
euere thinges thei `sotheli vnknowen.
Sotheli what euere thinges thei `han
knowe kyndely as doumbe beestis, in thes
thei ben corupt.

11 Wo to hem that wenten the weye of
Caym, and bi errour of Balaam for meede

12 Thes ben in her
metys filthes, `or defoulinges, feestinge
to gydere, with outen dreede fedynge hem
silf; cloudes with outen watir, that ben

woode, se, frothinge out her confusiouns;

alle men, and for to reproue alle vnpitous
men of alle the werkis of the
vnpitee of hem, bi whiche thei diden vnpitously,
and of alle harde thingis, that
`vnpitous synners han spoke a&yogh;ens God.
16 Thes ben grucchers pleynynge, `or ful of
pleyntis, wandringe up her desijres; and

17 Forsothe, &yogh;e moost
dere, `be &yogh;e myndeful of the wordis,
whiche ben bifore seid of apostlis of

come scorners, wandringe up her desijres,
not in pitee.
19 Thes ben, `the whiche departen
hem silf, beestly, not hauynge
spirit.
20 Forsothe &yogh;e, moost dere, aboue
byldinge &yogh;ou silf to &yogh;oure moost hooly
feith,
21 in the Hooly Goost preyinge, kepe
&yogh;ou silf in the loue of God, abijdinge the
mersy of oure Lord Jhesu Crist in to lijf
euerelastinge.
22 And sotheli reproue &yogh;e thes
men demyd,
23 forsothe `saue &yogh;e hem,
rauyschinge of the fijr. Sotheli do &yogh;e
mersy to othere in drede of God, `hatynge
and `the ilke defoulid coote, `the
which is fleschly.
24 Forsothe to him that
is my&yogh;ty for to kepe to gydere &yogh;ou with
oute synne, and for to ordeyne bifore the
si&yogh;t of his glorye &yogh;ou vnwemmyd in gladinge,
`or ioyinge with oute forth, in the
comynge of oure Lord Jhesu Crist,
25 to God
aloone oure sauyour, bi Jhesu Crist oure
Lord, glorye and magnyfiyng, empire, `or
greet lordschip, and power bifore alle
worldis, and now, and in to alle worldlis
of worldlis. Amen.
