prudence wisdam shal with departen; and the glorie of men holdende itself it enhaunceth. 25   The roote of wisdam is `to dreden God; the braunches forsothe of it long lyuyng. 26   In the tresores of wisdam vnderstonding, and religiosite of kunnyng; kursyng forsothe to synneres wisdam. 27   The drede of the Lord putteth awei synne, 28   for who withoute drede is, shal not moun be iustefied; wrathefulnesse forsothe of wilfulnesse `or hardynesse of hym is his turnyng vp so doun. 29   Vn to tyme the pacient shal suffre; and aftirward 30   is &yogh;eldynge a&yogh;een of ful myrthe. Good wit vnto time shal hide his wrdis; and the lippis of manye shuln tellen out the wit of hym. 31   In the tresores of wisdam is tocnyng of discyplyne; 32   cursing forsothe to the synnere is the heriyng of God. 33   Sone, coueitende wisdam, kep ri&yogh;twysnesse, and God shal &yogh;yue it to thee. 34   Wisdam forsothe and disciplyne the drede of the Lord, and that weel plesid is to hym, feith and debonernesse; 35   and it shal fulfille the tresores of hym. 36   Be thou not rebel, and `mys leeful to the dred of the Lord; and ne ne&yogh;he thou to hym with double herte. 37   Ne be thou an ipocrite in the si&yogh;te of men; and be thou not sclaundred in thi lippes. 38   Tac heed in tho thingus, lest parauenture thou falle, and bringe to thi soule vnwrsheping; 39   and God openeth in hid thingus, and in the myddel of the synagoge he hurtle thee; 40   for thou ne&yogh;hedist maliciously to the Lord, and thin herte is ful of treccherie and desceyt.
