1 Answerende forsothe Baldath Suythes
seide,
2 In to what ende woordis thou shalt
boste? Vnderstond rathere, and so speke
wee.
3 Whi be wee holden as bestis, and

lesist thou thi soule in thi wodnesse?
Whether for thee the erthe shal be forsaken,
and rochis shal be translatid fro
ther placis?

6 Li&yogh;t
shal waxe derk in his tabernacle; and
the lanterne that is vpon hym shal be
quenchid.
7 The goingis of his vertue

putten hym doun.
8 Forsothe he putte
in his feet in to the nett; and in his
filthis he goth.
9 His sole shal ben holde
with a grene; and thrist shal brenne out

10 His foot grene is hid in the
erthe, and his desceyuende gyn vp on
the sty.
11 Al aboute feris shul gasten
hym, and withinne wrappen his feet.
12 His strengthe shal ben feblid with hunger;
