1 Dauith forsothe wente in to counseil
with the maystirs of thousandis, and
maystirs of hundrithes, and with al the
princis.
2 And he seith to al the companye
of the sonys of Yrael, &YOGH;if it plesith
to &yogh;ou, and of the Lord oure God goth
out the word that I speke, sende we to
oure other bretheren in alle the regyouns
of Yrael, and to the prestis and Leuytis
that dwellen in the suburbis of cytees,
that thei ben gedered to us,
3 and we
bryngen a&yogh;eyn the arke of God to us;
forsothe we sou&yogh;ten it not in the days of
Saul.
4 And al the multitude answerd,
that it so schuld be done; forsothe the
word pleside to al the puple.
5 Thanne
Dauide gederide al Ysrael, fro Seor of
-- --
Egipt vnto the tyme that thou go in to
Emath, that he brynge the arke of God
fro Cariathiarym.
6 And Dauid stey&yogh;ide up,
and alle the men of Yrael, to the hill of
Cariathiarym, that is in Juda, that he
brynge the arke of the Lord God syttynge
vpon cherubyn, wher inwardly is clepid
the name of hym.
7 And thei putten the
arke of the Lord God vpon a newe wayn
of the hous of Amynadab; Osa forsothe
and the bretheren of hym dryuen the
wayne.
8 Bot Dauid and al Ysrael pleyden
beforn the Lord, in al vertue, in songis,
and in harpis, and in sawtrees, and in
tymbris, and in cymbalis, and in trumpis.
9 And whanne thei weren commen to the
cornflore of Chydon, Osa strau&yogh;t out his
hond, that he susteyne the arke; forsothe
the oxe pleyinge a litill wi&yogh;t bowede it
doun.
10 And so the Lord is wroth a&yogh;einus
Osam, and smote hym, forthi that he
hadde touchid the arke; and he is deed
there beforn the Lord.
11 And Dauid is
sory, for thi that the Lord hadde deuydid
Osam; and he clepid that place The
Deuydynge of Ose vnto the present day.
12 And he dredde the Lord that tyme, seyinge,
What maner wise may I bryngen
in to me the ark of the Lord?
13 And
for this cause he brou&yogh;t it not to hym,
that is, in the cyte of Dauid, bot turnede
it asyde in to the hous of Obededom
Jethei.
14 Thanne the arke of God dwellide
in the hous of Obededom Jethei thre
monethis; and the Lord blesside to the
hous of hym, and to alle thingis that he
hadde.
