1 Forsothe Iram, the kyng of Tiry,
sente his seruauntis to Salomon; forsothe
he herde that men hadden anoyntid
hym kyng for his fader; for Yram
was freend of Dauid al tyme.
2 Forsothe
and Salomon sente to Yram, seiynge,
Thou wost the wil of my fader Dauid,

and for he my&yogh;te not bilde vp an hows
to the name of his God, for the batailis
oncomynge bi enuyroun, to the tyme
that the Lord &yogh;af hem vndur the step of
his feet.
4 Forsothe now the Lord my
God hath &yogh;ouen rest to me bi enuyroun,
and there is not Sathan, ne yuel a&yogh;encomynge;
5 for what thing I thenke to
beeld a temple to the name of the Lord
my God, as God spak to my fader, seiynge,
Thi sone, whom I shal &yogh;yue to thee
for thee vpon thi seete, he shal beelde to
my name an hows.
6 Thanne comaund,
that thei hewen to me cedrys of Liban;
and my seruauntis ben with thi seruauntis;
forsothe the mede of thi seruauntis
I shal &yogh;yue to thee, what euer
thou askist; forsothe thou wost that
there is not in my puple a man, that
kan hewe trees, as Sidonys.
7 Whanne
thanne Iram hadde herd the wordis of
Salomon, he gladide greetli, and seith,
Blessid be the Lord God to day, that
&yogh;af to Dauid a moost wise sone vpon this
myche puple.
8 And Yram sente to Salomon,
seiynge, I haue herd alle thingis
that thou sentist to me; I shal doo al
thi wil, in cedre trees, and in firris.
9 My seruauntis shulen doo hem down fro
the wode to the see, and I shal make
hem to gidre in shippis in the see, vnto
the place the which thou shalt signyfye
to me; and I shal leye hem to thee,
that thou take hem; and thou shalt &yogh;yue
necessaryes to me, that meete be &yogh;ouen

to myn hows.
10 And so Yram &yogh;af to
Salomon cedre trees and firre trees, after
al the wil of hym;
11 forsothe Salomon &yogh;af
to Yram twenti thousand choris of whete
into mete to his hows, and twenti choris
of moost pure oyle; thes thingis Salomon
&yogh;af to Yram bi ech &yogh;eer.
12 And the
Lord &yogh;af wisdam to Salomon, as he spak
to hym; and there was betwix Iram and
Salomon pees, and bothe smyten couenant
of pees.
13 And king Salomon chees
werkmen of al Israel; and the moustre
was thretti thousandis of men.
14 And he
sente hem into the wode, ten thousand
bi eche moneth whilmele, so that two
monethis whilmele thei weren in her
howsis; and Adonyram was vpon siche
a maner gedrynge of men.
15 And so to
Salomon weren seuenti thousandis of hem,
that beren birthens, and ei&yogh;ti thousandis
of masouns in the hyl,
16 with outen the
prouostis, that reuliden to alle the
werkis, in noumbre of thre thousand and
thre hundrid, comaundinge to the puple,
and to hem that dyden werke.
17 And
the kyng comaundide, that thei shulden
take the greet stoonus, and the precious
stoonus, in to the foundement of the
temple, and thei shulden square hem;
the whiche the masouns of Salomon,
18 and
the masouns of Yram, han ouerscorchide.
Forsothe the cyteseynys of Biblis maden
redi the trees and stonus, to the hows to
be beeldid.
