Chap. I.

1   Paul, called to be an apostle note of Jesus Christ through the will of God, 2   and Sosthenes a brother, To the church of God, which is in Corinth, note to them that are sanctified through Christ Jesus, called and

holy, with all that in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both theirs and ours: 3   Grace be unto you, and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4   I thank my God always note on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Christ Jesus: 5   That in every thing ye are inriched through him, 6   in all utterance and in all knowledge, note As the testimony of Christ note was confirmed among you: 7   So that ye are wanting in no good gift, 8   waiting note for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who will also note confirm you to the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of the Lord Jesus Christ. 9   God is faithful, note by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10   Now I exhort you, note brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no schisms among you, but that ye be perfectly joined together, in the same mind and in the

same judgment. 11   For it hath been declared to me of you, my brethren, by them of the family of Chloe, note that there are contentions among you. 12   Now this I say, note every one of you saith, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ. 13   Is Christ divided? note Was Paul crucified for you? 14   Or were ye baptized into the name of Paul? I thank God, note that I baptized none of you but Crispus and Caius: 15   Lest any should say, that I had baptized in my own name. note 16   I baptized also the family of Stephanas. 17   I know not note that I baptized any other. For Christ did not send me note to baptize, but to preach the gospel; but not with wisdom of words,17Q0322 lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18   For the doctrine of the cross is indeed to them that perish note foolishness; but to us who are saved, it is the power of God. 19   For it is written, note note I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and abolish the understanding of the prudent. note 20   Where is the wise? note Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this

world? 21   For since, in the wisdom of God, note the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22   For whereas the Jews demand note signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom, We note preach Christ crucified, 23   to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness: 24   But to them that are called, note both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25   Because the foolishness of God note is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26   Behold your calling note brethren: that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: 27   But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world, to shame the wise, and the weak things of the world, to shame the things that are mighty: 28   And the base things of the world, and things that are despised, hath God chosen; yea, things that are not, note to bring to nought the things that are; That no flesh note may glory before him. 29   But of him note are ye in Christ Jesus, who is made by God unto us wisdom, 30   and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31   That as it is written, note He that glorieth, let

him glory in the Lord. note
