Note return to page 1 This edition records the text used for Kemble's opulent and influential revival of the play at Covent Garden in 1812, along with many of its stage directions (particularly those for its enormous, extra-filled processions). It derives largely from the version printed in Bell's edition (from which it retains, for example, the defiant lines added to Brutus's last speech), but makes some restorations from Shakespeare, and, in a manner characteristic of Kemble, invents personal names for unnamed minor characters.
