Note return to page 1 Kemble's version of Shakespeare's CORIOLANUS, like Sheridan's, draws heavily on James Thomson's 1749 tragedy CORIOLANUS, notably in the last two acts. Kemble first played Coriolanus at Drury Lane in 1789, and it remained one of his most famous roles (in a text only slightly altered from this one) after his move to Covent Garden in 1806.
