Note return to page 1 Lampe's version of the mechanicals' play from A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, which like Leveridge's COMICK MASQUE OF PYRAMUS AND THISBE three decades earlier is designed to parody Italian opera, enjoyed 30 performances at Covent Garden in 1745, and was last revived there in 1754.
